Your Bare Root Plants will be shipped DORMANT, since they have experienced frost here in New Jersey.

Dormancy Notice: This plant, like many others, enters dormancy or semi-dormancy in the late fall through early spring. *THIS PLANT IS NOT DEAD. It is completely healthy but upon receiving the plant, you may notice it exhibits fewer leaves, discoloration, or complete leaf drop. This is normal and essential to the plant’s health. In fact, planting during dormancy promotes root growth, giving your plant a better start for spring, when new foliage will begin to grow.

✅Quickly find the USDA Zone for your zip code. They’ve recently been updated:

Lily of the Valley thrives in USDA Zones 3-8.

🌱Free “Shasta ‘Crazy’ Daisy” Seeds (a $12. value,) a “Matching” Decorative Plant Tag and all Planting Information will be included.

📫NOW SHIPPING: I’ll be shipping Abundant Bare Roots with very short pink growth tips attached. These will be the start of this spring’s growth.

FYI: As the summer progresses, the leaves will become streaky brown. The plants will look like “goners” as the fall progresses. The roots will be fine. New leaves and flowers will arrive next spring. The withered leaves and stems can be removed during your fall cleanup.

Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) is not a true lily; it’s actually part of the asparagus family, though its foliage is reminiscent of some lilies. Medium green leaves about 5 to 10 inches long and 1 to 3 inches wide arch from the center of a clump. Petite, fragrant, white flowers rise on long stems from the leaf clumps in spring, and orange-red berries appear later in the fall if different varieties are planted for cross-pollination. Don’t let the delicate appearance of lily of the valley’s bell-shaped flowers fool you.

This is a hardy ground cover that spreads gradually but persistently to form dense colonies.

It is considered invasive in much of the Midwest and Northeast, where planting it may be strongly discouraged or even outlawed. Be aware that lily of the valley is toxic to humans, as well as to dogs, cats, and horses.

This plant prefers consistently moist but not soggy soil. Water whenever the soil begins to dry out due to a lack of rainfall and/or hot weather. Soil that is too dry will impede the plant’s growth and flowering.

For now these have been planted indoors. They look great after only two weeks. They will be moved outside to a little designated spot.
